Abu, named after a special bull elephant, offers guests a unique insight into African elephant behaviour, you’re given an opportunity to walk and interact with the Abu elephant herd and learn about the deep bonds they crate.

 

This premier lodge is situated within a riverine forest overlooking a large lagoon and incorporates the Star Bed which looks down over the Abu elephant herd boma.

Abu incorporates six luxurious tents raised on wooden platforms overlooking the lagoon. Each tent boasts emperor size beds with mosquito netting and distinctive soft furnishings, both indoor and outdoor showers along with an outdoor copper bathtub.

 

The raised terrace includes cozy seating and a sunken private plunge pool to relax during the heat of the day.

The facilities at Abu include multiple viewing and dining decks, with opulent soft furnishings and fittings. The central fire pit is the perfect place for pre-dinner drinks and mix with your fellow guests and discuss the days sightings and experiences. 

 

The lodge also offers guests in-room spa treatments, gym facilities, library and study.  Lectures are conducted in the entertainment area to learn more about the local wildlife and elephant conservation conducted at Abu.

Game drives are conducted in the morning and early evening when the predators are active in purpose built open game drive vehicles.  We highly recommend you accompany your guide on a bush walk, your guide will point out animal tracks along with the unique plant life of the Okavango Delta.

 

The perfect way to explore the Delta is by traditional mokoro, your guide with gently steer you through this stunning setting pointing out all the wildlife along the way, or simply meander through the Delta in a purpose built motor boat enjoying the magically scenery as you go.  Enjoy the elephant interaction on offer at Abu by walking and observing the daily routine of the Abu Herd.
